At Steel Construction, we are Stowe, Vermont home builders with an eye for detail. Below we share some of the details produced by the staff that makes Steel Construction one of the finest home builders in Stowe, Vermont and throughout Lamoille County.
A little information about the people and process here at Steel Construction, Inc.
John Steel
Owner/President: John started Steel Construction in the early 80's, after working up through the building trades. Since then the company has grown to include 12 full-time employees. John covers everything from the initial contact with owners and architects, through contracting and supervision of subcontractors and employees, to the delivery, service and warranty of the projects.
Rick Holton
Rick's worked at Steel Construction as office manager since 1989. He has a broad spectrum of skills and covers a lot of different bases. When he's not crunching numbers in his roll as business manager, he's either working on estimates, or doing detailed CADD drawing. His accuracy with numbers is a huge asset for our company.
Paul Kartluke
Paul's the detail guy. He's been with us since '89 and has been an invaluable resource. He has a passion for the finish stage of the projects-cabinets, countertops, tile work, fixtures - bringing it all together so it sparkles in the end. His attention to detail brings out the quality homeowners are looking for. The more complex a job, the more Paul excels.
Doug Bronner
Other than John, Doug's the longest time employee, having worked at Steel Construction since 1988. He's a great carpenter doing either framing or finish work. If there's ever a complex roofline with multiple planes intersecting, with a variety of pitches, you want Doug up there making sure they come together correctly. If we can stay ahead of him with decisions and materials, the job gets done.
Dave Boudreau
Dave does a great job supervising the day to day activity on the Trapp Family Lodge Villa project. His calm demeanor keeps everyone focused on the job at hand. When not on his cell phone or directing a sub, he's building banquets or installing kitchens. He's been with us since 1992 and his skills have grown with the company.
John Hudgens
"Hudge" is another essential asset for us. He's got great framing and finish skills, but, on top of that we can bring him into the office when we’re buried in paperwork. His math degree is invaluable doing takeoffs. His computer skills are great for the estimating software and scheduling programs. There aren't many times you can find where the people in the field have first hand knowledge of the numbers generated in the office.
Eric Douglass
When you've got a full mortise lockset on a 2 1/4" thick mahogany door, it's nice to have Eric to call on. He's got the patience and skills for the details be it hardware, cabinets or stairs. Give him the time to do it right and it will be perfect. He's worked with us since 1989 and has consistently been a great carpenter.
Mark Lang
Mark's just got building in his blood. He's been doing it since his father first taught him and his knowledge is invaluable. He does both framing and finish so he can work at a variety of tasks. He's got the skills to do it all and we're glad to have him.
Nicky Gentile
Nicky's bright disposition keeps everyone smiling as she does her job coordinating job sites. For the last four years she has been scheduling subs and deliveries, schlepping tools and materials and helping to keep the flow of information so the guys can do their jobs. She can be found doing anything from grading a cellar hole to doing the final cleanup. Just make sure there's plenty on her list and she's a happy worker.
Austin McClelland
It's nice to have some younger guys when it comes to the heavy lifting. Austin’s been with us six years and has developed his carpentry skills to the point where he can do pretty much anything in residential carpentry. He brings a great attitude and all the lead guys ask to have him on their crew. He's skilled and reliable and nice to have on board.
Colt Blanchard
Colt's our newest employee having joined us in 2007. He's a guy you want to have around when you're leaning up precut 24 foot rafters or installing microlam ridges 40 feet in the air. He's been doing a lot of framing and we can rely on him to keep it plumb, straight and square. Everyone enjoys working with him and we look forward to his growing with us.
